DDoS Attack

Distributed Denial of Service — an attack that overwhelms a system with traffic from many sources, making it unavailable to legitimate users.

DDoS attacks are typically launched from botnets and aim to disrupt availability rather than steal data — one of the three pillars of security (confidentiality, integrity, availability) they specifically target.

Want to actually work with DDoS Attack? This concept is covered hands-on in our Network Security Foundations program — not just defined, but practiced.
